Bible Covers Make Great Gifts!

What has been keeping me so busy that I haven't been updating the blog lately? Take a look to your right and you will see a glimpse at what I have been emerged in the past several weeks.

Lots and lots of Bible covers!

These beauties were shipped off to North Carolina a couple of weeks ago. The first 12 of 30 covers ordered. I'm currently finishing up the last few for this order. My LARGEST order ever!

It has been SO much fun creating each of these covers! I must admit though, I became a bit overwhelmed for a while there. Especially when my beloved sewing machine stopped working! Which, by the way, is still waiting in the shop to be repaired! Hopefully I will get it back just before the end of the year. Wowsers! That is a LONG time to be without her!!! I am so thankful though to have back-up machines to use. I praise God for that!

You may be wondering who would order 30 Bible covers? Well, I was part of a church's pre-sale for there Bazaar. They were raising money for women and childrens missions. Of course, 20% of the money that I earned from each sale went to the child of the month at Reece's Rainbow. A majority of it went to Katrina, and the rest is going to Colton. It all depended on when payment was received.
I thought I'd show a few of the covers I have made over the past month or so.

I thought I had taken pictures of each of the covers before shipping them off. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Somehow I didn't take photos of most I made. Included in the ones I forgot to photo were some of my favorite ones! BOO!!

I have several others I still need to photo. I really like them all but I do like some more than others.  The colors and fabrics make them so unique and wonderful! I'll definitely share those once I get the rest finished. Then I'll have a little Bible cover photo shoot. ;)

On a side note, my current "holiday" production time is about 7-12 days. So, if you want to give one as a gift, there is still time to order, though time is running low. Just visit my Etsy shop, or shoot me an email, and we can make it happen!

Have a blessed day friends!

US Presidents Unit Study: Finishing Up

Well, it seems I have been so busy around here that I have neglected posting the rest of the US Presidents class. Which, ended about 2 weeks ago!

Ronald Reagan was the final president in our unit study. We enjoyed reading a short biography about him, and then we put together a US Presidents Trivia Pocket for our notebooks. That was it!

Hmm... It seems near the end I lost my steam.  ;)

We did however have one last project for the semester. Something that the kids worked on over the entire course at home.

I called it Project: President.

Sadly I do not have the original source for this template! =/

I gave each student a cut-out of a person that I printed on cardstock. They chose 1 president to research more about. Then they dressed up the cut-out as that president. On the last day of class they each did a short presentation. They all did really great! It was so much fun seeing, and hearing, what each had learned and made.

Normally, I would show you pictures BUT sadly I was slacking and FORGOT to take pictures of their projects! Big sad face over here! I can show you one though because my son was in the class, and I have easy access to his.  =)

George W. Bush

I truly enjoyed this class this semester! I am already brainstorming for the Spring session!

Have a blessed day friends!

US Presidents: John F. Kennedy

Catching up with my class.... Two weeks ago we did John F. Kennedy. He was the 35th president, and was only in office for 2 years when he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas.

One of the first things he did in office was start the Peace Corps. This is something that is still going on today. You can read more about that HERE

Kennedy was also determined to get America into space. He wanted to be the first country to land someone on the moon. He didn't live to see it but America did succeed.

Here's a YouTube video that goes into more detail on JFK:

Our activity this week was to make a sculpture of JFK, or something pertaining to him.

These kids are quite creative!

US Presidents: Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Well, I am quite behind on my US Presidents! A few weeks back we did Franklin D. Roosevelt. I was sick that week so we didn't have a super cool craft but we did play President BINGO. The kids really enjoyed it!

My favorite part was making the BINGO cards! It was super easy to do over at BINGO Baker. I am so glad I found this website! BINGO is always a fun game to play, and this tool makes it so much easier to make cards specifically for what you need. I gave the kids clues and they had to figure out which president it was, then they could mark it on their cards.

I will say this though, the kids were quite loud while guessing the president for the clues. Especially when they didn't really know, and they were just yelling names out! And, with a headache, it was more than I bargained for! ;) So much fun though. These kiddos are really smart!

Next up: John F. Kennedy

Child of the Month: Colton

Usually Reece's Rainbow has a child of the month on their website, and that is who I donate to for the month. Well, for the months of November and December they are doing something different. They will be focusing on the children on their Angel Tree. To learn more about this visit their website.

Since they are doing that, and won't have just one child this month, I have decided that I will be donating 20% of my sales to Colton, who is on the Angel Tree this year. I happen to know who the sweet woman is who has been matched with him. She will be doing a fundraiser for him soon. This is something I have already donated to. So, I will keep y'all up to date on this. Click on over to her blog for more info: Saving One Child at a Time.

Here is what the website has to say about sweet little Colton....
Boy, born April 2010
It might be because I’m partial to little round-faced babies, but this doll steals my heart every time I look at him!
Sweet Colton has been posted with us WAY too long.   He is just darling!   PLEASE rally to help Colton find his forever family!

More photos available.  Married couples only.  Older parents and larger families welcome.  Travel required.
He currently has $3115.20 available towards the cost of his adoption.

Please keep Colton in your prayers! He deserves a Mommy and Daddy to love on him and show him God's unfailing love!

Thank you and have a blessed day friends!

Running Behind

So, I've been pretty absent lately. I am behind on my US Presidents posts but hope to get caught up soon! We've done FDR, JFK, and tomorrow is Ronald Reagan. We've had some fun and I hope to share about it soon!

I've actually been busy sewing. Then, my machine started acting finicky, and now it is not working! It will be heading off to the repair shop soon. There is a 3 week wait right now! =/

But, praise the LORD because He has blessed me with amazing people in my life. So, I do have a working sewing machine AND embroidery machine (which I still need to learn how to use!). So, I am still sewing away on the orders that are coming my way. So, don't fret if you have something in the works. It's still being worked on without any compromise in quality!

It's also a new month. That means there is a NEW orphan to bless for the month of November! His name is Colton, and I'll be introducing him very soon. For now, I leave you with his sweet face!

Have a blessed day friends!
